Making headway on targets one year on.
The CIS has made significant progress since its first pilot end of 2023, so far achieving:
- 32% of its 9 GW dispatchable capacity target.
- 20% of its 23 GW renewable generation target.
No Tasmanian project has received a CIS and Queensland is yet to finalise its RETA which sets out the agreed target, despite being awarded 550MW in the Generation Tender 1. Final outcomes for the latest dispatchable tender are expected in Q3 2025, while the Generation Tender 4 results are anticipated in October.

Recent legislative updates have solidified the CIS’s futureThe Electricity Infrastructure Legislation Amendment Bill 2025 passed on 20 February 2025 ensuring the CIS must deliver at least 23 GW of renewable generation and 9 GW of clean dispatchable capacity. Additionally, the legislation mandates that any amendments to the CIS require approval from both houses of Parliament, making it more difficult to alter the scheme— for example by including gas generation, a policy advocated by the Coalition.
Stride supports the role of the CIS in driving innovation and accelerating project development pathways. We are proud of our 100% success rate in supporting bids across NSW, VIC, SA, QLD and WA.
